about the class
_____
I took a virtual risograph animation course taught by Kelli Anderson and printed at The Arm in NYC. This course taught us the basics of risograph printing and how it can be used to create an animation.
process
_____
First, I created an animation using cut out pieces of papers from my collection of ephemera. I placed them together physically, scanned them individually and then adjusted them in After Effects. I animated each piece of paper to come into the frame overtime.

After creating the animation, we separated the frames onto contact sheets. Then we prepared the files for printing on the risograph by separating the colors. We printed them using aqua, sunflower and flourescent pink ink.
process
_____
After the Risograph sheets were printed, they were scanned and we brought them into photoshop to create individual frames and stitch them back together into an animation.

The Risograph printing method provides a lot of artifacts giving the animation depth and texture. I really enjoy how mine combines analog processes together.
