Jordan Takes the Mound is a story of confidence, resilience and perseverance that showcases how a girl can win the game!

Written by up-and-coming author John Healy, I brought the manuscript to life through the illustrations and design of production ready files for the 32-page children’s story.

The process started with a storyboard and black and white outlines to create a cohesive narrative that flows from to page.

Then, I refined the characters, created consistency throughout the story and colored the book. Throughout the entire process, I was conscious about where text would go and how it would pair with the imagery.

The final design creates a simple watercolor-like style that should resonate with young readers. The colors are soft, mellow and optimistic.

The story follows Jordan, the author’s daughter, as the main character. Her distinct long blonde hair becoming a main element within each page demonstrating how a young girl can lead the team to success.
